Shoot Hawaii Dojo has been in operation since 1998 in Kailua Kona, Hawai'i. Starting off with a Daisy Fresh style Gym which doubled as an upholstery shop, with Shoot Wrestling and Hawaiian Kenpo being the main focus , then adding Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2009. SHD was heavily involved in Hawaii's MMA scene from 1999 until 2012. Now the Gym focuses on Lifestyle Improvement through Grappling and turning Hobbyist into Killlers-
Jaz Yglesias is a former Pro Wrestler & Shoot Fighter , who started his training in 1979 with Judo , then Folk Wrestling in 1983. A Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt under Carlos Catania , Jaz also shares his teaching time as PE teacher at Konawaena Middle School , where BJJ and Catch Basics are taught as PE Curriculum , and assistant Coach for both Wrestling and Judo for Konawaena High school.
Although Jaz does teach BJJ Gi classes, Shoot Hawai'i Dojo specializes in the preservation and sharing (and educating) of Catch Wrestling , the Oldest Martial Art!
