SPECIAL: All orders over $150 get any free DVD! Just place your order, then email me which title from the Scientific Wrestling DVD library you'd like and it's yours FREE. First, congratulations to our friend Josh Barnett for signing with Strikeforce. I am really looking forward to seeing the match ups in the excellent heavyweight division in Strikeforce! We are proud to have helped to clear the way for people to research and learn Catch-As-Catch-Can (without flame-wars or e-fueds). As a result, we are very proud of the spontaneous, grass-roots Catch-As-Catch-Can culture that has begun to grow here and there! After nearly 10 years at this, it seems the rest of the MMA world is beginning to pay attention... Here's just a few people that are at the tip of the spear in our grassroots movement to bring respect BACK to competitive Catch-As-Catch-Can grappling: 1) Check out our friends Brandon and Brian over at Damage Control MMA. They recently invited me over to do a seminar with some other local MMA peeps at the debut of their new gym in North Salt Lake and everyone really LOVED the toe-hold combinations and takedowns! 2) Also, check out Ted Czech's blog, he often covers CACC. Here's a recent mention of ScientificWrestling.com 3) There is also the excellent blog launched by KJ Gould "Catch Wrestling United". KJ is from the UK and I am wondering if this is a play off of the European football team "Manchester United", which is compelling since Wigan is near Manchester, both of them being in Lancashire (the birth place of Catch-As-Catch-Can). 4) Then there are the slew of recent articles of interest to CACC practitioners over at BloodyElbow.com:
Frank Shamrock Interview
Billy Robinson's Birthday Wishes
Frank Shamrock Interview
"Really Old School" mma history article
Speaking of "Really Old School", as a special thank you, enjoy this old school clip of Fujiwara (from well before the UFC was even a twinkle in Rorion's eye). Members of ScientificWrestling.com have access to hundreds of hours of material like this):
Then of course there is also Josh Barnett, Randy Couture, Neil Melanson, Roli Delgado, Matt Hamilton, and Erik Paulson too. Our vision of "Less Talk, More Walk" in catch wrestling is really coming to fruition as we see more and more of our Catch-As-Catch-Can winning at tournaments and in the ring. Be sure to join us at the next CACC Certification Camp this January in Salt Lake City. Here's a clip of some of the opinions of highly experienced wrestlers, AND the regular joes too:
Salt Lake City local Jeramy Hunt-Loveless (he's interviewed in the clip above) had only about a month of grappling experience, plus a weekend of fine tuning at the hands of Billy Robinson and I, and went on to win Gold the very next weekend at NAGA in Vegas! My training partner and new Catch Wrestling savant, Brandon Ruiz also dominated his division too and came back a champion (again...)! Congratulations guys! By the way, in case you don't know, Utah is a meccha for MMA. I remember back when I started submission grappling back in 1994 in Boulder, Colorado, the only guy around was Pedro Sauer in Salt Lake. We'd fly him down to Boulder Karate once a month for private lessons. Grappling legend Walt Bayless taught here for years... Then there is Mike Stidham's Ultimate Combat Experience, which is a weekly televised MMA show that has been a mainstay here since the 90s! Throwdown HQ is here in Utah. MMA legend Jeremy Horn is here. Submission grappling champion Ricky Lundell lives here. Brandon Ruiz lives, trains and coaches here. And of course, now Scientific Wrestling is based here. If you are thinking of taking a vacation for training, you may want to consider all the great resources in Utah! Be sure to sign up soon, we only accept 10 spots on each Level 1 squad and 4 of those were snatched up the first day we opened for registration. Here's a few clips to give you an idea of what happens at CACC Certification Camp (these clips are from "The Sport of Catch Wrestling Conceptual Syllabus" dvd:
HOPE TO SEE YOU IN JANUARY FOR CATCH-AS-CATCH-CAN CERTIFICATION CAMP!
