Hard to Believe It Is December Already!
1. What do a RKC, a Professional Stunt Woman, a Sombo Blackbelt, a Personal Trainer, and Pin-Up Model all have in common?
They are all going to be at the first ever Macebell Seminar!
I am going to leave registration open for just 1 more male and 1 more female participant.
2. The Scientific Wrestling Academy opens in just 3 weeks! We are super stoked to begin offering catch-as-catch-can wrestling in addition to CrossFit at the beginning of 2008! Whether you are a Catch Wrestling purist, a Mixed Martial Artist looking to practice your grappling (with a top-game emphasis), a jiu-jitsu or judo player looking to try an alternative grappling method, or you are an indy Pro-Wrestler looking to add more realism to your performances, the Scientific Wrestling Academy is here to help. We are proud to have a 14 sq. ft MMA ring from Monster Rings and Cages. You may have seen their rings at Bodog and Hook n' Shoot events. We will continue to offer the very best in grappling training as we have in the past.
(Note: This is not our actual ring, this is an example of one of Monster's MMA Rings.)
We'll be having our grand opening in the beginning of January and to celebrate I will be offering a free 2 hour seminar exclusively on Toe-Holds on January 5th. Due to the size of our studio, the number of participants will be strictly limited to the first ten people that email me at [email protected] to reserve their seat.
3. Wade Schalles Cradles DVD ready soon!
We shot some of the most amazing footage with Wade and his son showing everything the world knows about cradles (literally EVERYTHING). KILLER CRADLES & TERMINAL TAKEDOWNS should be ready by the end of the year. Be ready to tie your opponent's up in knots!
4. Our next Josh Barnett DVD is coming soon to a DVD player near you!
We have another DVD coming in the coming months but thought you'd like to see some of the feedback on Josh's Attacking the Guard DVD so far:
"The dvd arrived yesterday and I watched it last night. Josh and I
are the same size and have similar grappling styles. Although a lot of what he covered is already part of my game there were plenty of concepts and
techniques that had me saying out loud, "OH, Hell yeah!" I am looking
forward to working through his progression with my training partners.
I was really impressed with how organized the material was. Great job
and a big thanks to Josh and Jake.
The hand fighting/trapping, hip pressure, brace, head control,
underhooks, pinning pressure are all great. I like the idea of making the guy so uncomfortable that he just wants to abandon the guard.
I like how you synched the sound even though you had a couple hand
held cameras moving about. Very high quality video for a seminar. Looking forward to the next installment from Josh"

Washington state "Got my Josh Barnett DVD last night, watched it all the way through once, then watched bits and pieces of it again. Great, great stuff. Considering there was more than one camera, the recording levels and timing/sync couldn't have been better. I actually forgot about there being multiple cameras until reading that post, and you can take that as a compliment. As for the rest of the DVD, I was very impressed with the fact that it followed a sequence, building up from the fundamentals, rather than being a random set of techniques. I've always felt that you have to learn simple addition before basic algebra, and basic algebra before differential calculus, and learning a new sport/martial art/skill set shouldn't be any different. Josh's concepts of posture, head and hand control were definitely important, and i was happy to see him go back to them as the DVD progressed. I also liked the "bracing" technique. So simple, but potentially so valuable. I've probably gushed about it for long enough now, but again, I was VERY impressed. If you put out any more instructionals with Josh I'll be ordering them quick smart, and now more than ever i can't wait to see him on Human Weapon. Thanks very much for making this available."

Australia "Lots of little tricks to try out! I also enjoyed the Toe Hold info; that was one of my favorite parts. Good stuff.

Louisiana " -The Hindu squats with the legs displaced is a great idea, which simulates a level change prior to going for a shot. Gives your legs a nice burn too. - I love the way Josh explains head and hand control and how many submission attempts can be neutralized by following this principle. - I always thought the half Boston crab would be too difficult to get someone into (more of a show-hold), but the entry he describes makes a lot of sense. - The mean stuff looks like it would be great for MMA or self-defense situations, but I definitely wouldn't try any of it while rolling with my training partners and I'm sure a ref would have something to say something it during a competition. Maybe I'm just too nice. Overall, I was VERY impressed with the DVD!"
