2) Scientific Wrestling Certifications, why YOU should join the next squad...! Last week I reported the successes of the Quebec Toe-Hold Club at recent tournaments. Well, Level 3 Scientific Wrestler Jesse Marez over at the Inland Empire Toe-Hold Club just coached his team to medals! He just sent me this wonderful note:
"On Saturday, April 18, I took six students to a no-gi grappling and Pankration tournament. We were the only Scientific Wrestling School in attendance. Even though most of our best submissions were not allowed (leg locks and neck cranks) we brought home seven medals: four gold, one silver and two bronze. I give much credit to Jake Shannon and Billy Robinson for my students' success, directly tied to my level 3 Catch Wrestling certification in Salt Lake City. During my Level 3 certification, Billy and Jake DRILLED, and I mean drilled into my head the importance of controlling the tie ups, controlling the distance, and the importance of taking your opponent down into a dominant position. So many wrestlers rush into double legs or singles that they end up getting caught in guard (I must admit I fell into this quite often). At my audit, I had to wrestle live and show the effectiveness of these principles. There was no guess work or passing out of certificates; you have to work hard to learn and show the techniques. Billy and Jake did a great job of stressing the importance of getting YOUR tie up, and executing a take down that puts you in a top/dominant position. At the tournament, my students did a great job of doing just that. By using excellent top control, leg riding and submissions, we were able to perform very well. I am proud of my students for carrying out the game plan Billy and Jake taught me in Salt Lake City. I would strongly recommend the Scientific Wrestling method to anyone interested in taking their game to the next level."
Also, Level 1 Scientific Wrestler John Potenza (and proprietor of the New Jersey Toe-Hold Club) also posted this on his blog:
"2 More Gold Medals for Team Modern Martial Arts at NAGA Grappling Tournament! Phil Doig and Jay Eib both brought home the gold from NAGA yesterday!"
