The World Is Finally Waking Up To The Anomaly That Is Catch-As-Catch-Can...

Jake -
1) Josh Barnett Takes It To BJJ Again...
Looks like Josh won to me (but then again I don't know how BJJ scores things)... Anyway, if you watch this video then buy Josh's Attacking The Guard DVD, you can see precisely what he is doing...

2) 8-Weeks Until Certification! Billy and I will be in Salt Lake City, and Josh Barnett has told me he's going to try his best to be here too. Hope you find yourself here with us! You register here, then email me and I will give you the address of the gym so you can book a hotel nearby!

3) Last Chance to Buy SW Books in Physical Form Just a warning, if you ever wanted a hard cover copy of any of the books I've published (from The Authoritative Encyclopedia of Scientific Wrestling series to The Classical Pugilism and Bare-Knuckle Boxing Companion series to everything in between) will only be available in electronic form starting in the next week. Very soon (like next week) the only way to get this material will be with the Scientific Wrestling Digital Library...

4) Shelly on Paul Heyman's website As you may or may not know, from time to time I take on projects to help my friends with their businesses. Most recently my production company has been working with Shelly Martinez (aka "Ariel" on WWE's ECW and "Salinas" on SpikeTV's TNA). She is still generating a ton of attention, as you can see on Paul Heyman's website also Shelly is 17 on this list on WWE.com! Here's why, check this latest video tease promoting the new fan site we are helping her with:

5) !!!Josh Barnett Seminar in Riverside, CA December 6th!!! December 6th, starting at 11am at the USKO in Chino Hills. Space is extremely limited and it will be approximately 6-8 hours of training. People can contact The Training Mat or just click on the Inland Empire Toe Hold Club link on the front page of ScientificWrestling.com.

6) Some Top BJJ Players Seem to Be Finally Coming Around to our CACC Perspective This quote is from Ryan Hall, one of the top BJJ fighters in the world:

"Being on top is key. According to Hall, the guard, as a strategy, is not effective against elite level competition because it puts the bottom fighter at a major mechanical disadvantage. Because of this, Hall believes that the guard will eventually disappear and be replaced by takedowns and top positioning. That's not to say that the guard won't be used in the event that a fighter does end up on bottom, but the days of a fighter immediately pulling half guard will cease to exist" then he goes on to say this...

"M: What will take the guard's place?

R: Takedowns, and top positioning.
"
