1) Josh Barnett Dominates Yet ANOTHER Tournament
From Josh's blog:
"I won the advanced 205+ division and the advanced absolute. Grappling X puts on a great tournament and I have had a good experience at their events. Anyone looking to get mat time in out there, I highly recommend these events.
Big thanks to all of my fellow wrestlers for getting on the mat with me that day and my gym, CSW (Thanks Jaime and Mark for helping out). Special thanks to Jesse Marez and the The Training Mat for the support and help."

2) The Inland Empire Toe-Hold Club Dominates too! From L3 Certified Catch Wrestler Jesse Marez: "Dear Jake, It was a great day for Catch-As-Catch-Can Wrestling on Valentines Day 2010. Three students from the Training Mat captured medals. Ana Murcia won gold in the woman's 150 division. She won her matches via Double Wrist Lock and Front Choke while standing. Her highlights included a high single transition to a high crotch were she got her opponent horizontal. Also, she had the only standing submission I saw all day. Cody Ross won the Teens 160 pound division. He won his matches via TWL and DWL, two staples of catch wrestling. Cody showed great take down defense, defending shot after shot in both of his matches until he was able to Half Halch his opponents over into side control and secure submissions. His highlights included escaping a nasty arm bar and triangle choke. Eric Roberts captured 3rd place and the bronze in the men's novice heavy weight. He used great takedowns and side control to win his matches 3-0 and 5-0. His only loss was to the eventual champion in overtime by a score of 2-0. The highlight of the day was Josh "the Baby Faced Assassin" Barnett capturing both the advanced Heavy Weight and Absolute Advanced championships. Josh won six matches, all via tapout, all under 1 minute! His tapouts included Straight Ankle Lock, Outside Toe Hold, V-1 Pillow Armlock, Knee Bar and Figure 4 Neck Crank. Josh was a big help to my students and a true gentleman with the fans! Sincerely, Jesse M. Marez" By the way, here's footage of Anna Murcia from a a few years back at our VERY own "King of Catch Wrestling Tournament" held in 2007 Los Angeles, California.
3) The Long Beach Toe-Hold Club Enters MMA and Wins! This letter comes this week from L1 Certified Catch Wrestler Glenn Chang: "Hi Jake, Our guy is David Neace. He weighed in 197 lbs. David took advantage of a poor front/round kick by his opponent and quickly turned it into a double leg take down. David stayed in side control and started landing some strikes to the head. Those strikes started to open up some double wrist lock opportunities, but, the short 2 minute round wasn't enough time to sink one in. Round two started off the same. Another poor kick that David turned into a nice hard take down. Again the dominant side control and strikes began to open submission opportunities. The guys arm came up and David turned it into an top wrist lock for the tapout. Oh yeah! It's official, we'll be having our Toe Hold Club session on Saturdays!
4) More Competitive CACC news...! This one comes from L1 Certified Catch Wrestler Don Powers: "Hey Jake I used that 6th phase idea from Killer Cradles for one week with my kids. We have 8 that normally do tournaments before using that idea We were getting 3 1st and the rest of 5 varied from 2 to 4. This weekend we had 4 firsts and 4 seconds. Its a awesome approach to teaching kids pins. Thanks, Don Powers"
